A practical guide to better short links
Good short links are understandable, tested and used transparently.
1. Start with the destination
Confirm the destination uses the expected HTTPS address, loads correctly and contains the right content before creating a short link.
2. Use an informative alias
A clear alias can make a link easier to recognize. Keep it concise and avoid deceptive names.
3. Add controls when needed
Use password protection or expiration only when they serve a clear purpose. Test the password and expiry behavior before distributing the link.
4. Test and measure
Open the link in a private browser session, scan its QR code if applicable, and review available click totals after sharing.
5. Share responsibly
Do not use short links for phishing, malware distribution, spam or attempts to evade safety checks.
